The book "... UND SCHON BIST DU FREMD, junge menschen mit und ohne fluchterfahrung in transdifferenter aufnahme" focuses the reader's attention on 160 pages on four young men with and without refugee experience and was created as a companion book to a documentary film in cooperation with the Faculty of Social Work and Health at HAWK.
Social Work meets Editorial Design meets People.
Interviews, portraits, country data and specialist essays are arranged in a visually translated form, thus opening up a transdisciplinary bridge to both the title and the subject matter. Readers are visually guided and discursively challenged to embark on a journey full of experiences of foreignness.
The book, designed and realised by students on the Editorial Design course with Prof. Dominika Hasse and Dipl.-Des. (FH) Tatjana Rabe at the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Faculty of Design in Hildesheim, conveys various aspects of flight through its differentiated visual language.
The design confronts the reader with themselves, with their own biographical experiences and the resulting perspectives.
Written film material (interview sequences) has been added as a second narrative level, specialist articles have been visually commented on using typographical means, and the facts have been given a form that is expressive in its spatially comprehensive, contemporary manner.
The format and materiality of the paperback book is based on the form of the non-fiction book, enhanced by thread stitching that gives the book a long life: even with the most intensive examination. The medium of uncoated paper supports the presentation of the topic through unagitated objectivity without appearing glossy.
