Design model making

Design modelling with model making and rapid prototyping laboratory are the central workshops for students in the product design area of expertise. Ergonomic samples, functional and presentation models are created with the help of classic manual production methods in model making, such as vacuum hot forming, turning and cast resin processing.

The basic modelling course teaches the basic possibilities of the modelling workshop and various modelling materials. Manual techniques such as sawing, sanding, turning, vacuum thermoforming and milling as well as techniques for processing multi-component casting resins and fillers are learnt on various practice pieces.

The work samples, such as a hand-flattering furniture handle, provide the first opportunities to approach creative processes in a playful way. Insights into work safety, teamwork and the responsible use of materials and machines enable students to work safely and independently.
